Oh, give me a break. Of course we care about people. But tell me, how should we act when you make wild accusations and threats, and you're not even naming anyone? This is rediculous. And, further still, all you're even accusing them of is lying about their identity. Heaven help us if everyone who lies about their identity on the Interenet is a sexually perverted rapist. Sheesh!!

For the women here
by oldflame inladies,.
be aware !.
i am in personal communication with a female poster here at jwd, we had a discussion the other day about a member here that had contacted her and told her that he was a female, but then later said in a post that he was indeed a male.

So, then, you're not thinking clearly. That would explain it.

No, I think it's childish that you feel your friend is incapable of telling this person herself and needs your protection. I think making threats to someone you don't know is childish. I think you're being condescending and insulting of female intelligence by coming on here in the guise of protecting women, thinking they don't know to take the precautions any reasonable person takes. Your threat may make you feel like a big man, but it will do nothing to deter anyone from doing what they're going to do, and you need to check yourself if you think you're helping anyone by making posts containing gossip about internet personas. We can all think and act for ourselves. Grow up. Yeah, we may have a pervert on this site, now there's a revelation!

Great Quotes from Societies Literature
by Sheepish ini may be behind the times here with this, cause i'm so new, but i picked up an old copy of "let god be true"(1946) at a yard sale, and i've been kinda skimming through it.
this statement jumped out at me.
i got a good laugh considering how, they won't give let you share the other side of an issue with them, calling it "apostate" and all...( maybe you have other ones that you've found.).

I surmise that simply changing "question" to "issue" would probably be closest to their intended meaning, considering how the colloquialism is typically used.

VENT: Disrespectful Teenagers
by Billygoat inat my little neighborhood grocery store, there is a bagger that's always there - mr. lamorris.
mr. lamorris is an elderly black man, tall, thin, with graying hair, and clothing that is always too big for his skinny frame.
but what's so sweet is his mouthful of gold teeth to match his ever present smile and positive attitude.

I work in Home Depot part time. It's really annoying when the customers come up and expect you to help them, like you've got nothing better to do. I was getting into a good session of diddling my twiddley yesterday, and a customer came up and said "feelt'wers." I said "yessir, isle 9 all the way down on your left." He then expected me to know something about them and said in an apeish grunt, "You g'ut 'da 'purty blue ones in 'fowerteen buy tweyentee." Imagine that!! I would have liked to have helped him pick one out, but I was about to set a Depot twiddley record and couldn't break my concentration for the customer.
Not to mention I was in a good conversation with Emma from paint about what a prick the new cashier was. So I politely and respectfully told the man to go screw himself, and went on to diddle my way in to twiddley notoriety. But that's a story for another day.

Your story reminded me of this short story. I think Buckley makes an interesting point. What do you all think? It's worth a read anyway--short. The link tags don't work from Firefox, so you'll have to copy and pass this address into your browser. Sorry.

How the Internet Means 'The End' for Apostates and Opposers of the Society
by slimboyfat inthe received wisdom is that the internet has dramatically damaged the ability of the watchtower society to gain and retain followers.
there was a very eloquent article to that effect written some time ago by a commentator who attempted to buttress his argument with reference to the postmodern condition and the breakdown of metanarratives in todays secular society, nay, even the come-back for enlightenment notions of truth.
in the 1970/80s there were major challenges to the watchtowers theology (great crowd in heaven) and chronology (1914) in norway, alberta canada, dublin ireland and in the newyork bethel itself: but the damage caused by those involved in the dissent was limited because knowledge was dispersed merely through personal contact and minimal use of obscure publications that seldom met the eyes of witnesses innocent of the watchtowers doctrinal and chronological vacillations in any case.

a^2 is a to the power 2, or a squared. Thought I'd try an html tag. I don't know if this one works here or not. a^2=a 2

Here's the basic proof for 1=2 using basic algebra. There are others.
Let a=b.
Then, a 2 =ab
Furthermore, a 2 + a 2 = a 2 +ab
This simplifies to 2a 2 =a 2 + ab.
Subtracting from both sides, we get 2a 2 -2ab=a 2 + ab - 2ab.
This gives us 2a 2 -2ab = a 2 -ab.
Factoring, we get 2(a 2 -ab)=1(a 2 -ab).
Cancelling our common factors from both sides, we get 2=1. The fallacy lies in the fact that a^2-ab is 0, since we let a be equal to b, and any number divided by 0 is undefined. Therefore, the proof does not hold.
